Profile

The basics: I'm a financial analyst for an internationally recognized news organization. I am not tall, or blonde. I am a property owner, and I live in a condominium in what is basically a borough of Atlanta (for those of you who may not be intimately familiar with American political geography, Atlanta is the capital city of Georgia, a state in the southeastern part of the United States). My girlfriend is cureless; she's hot and funny, so I pretty much win at the dating aspect of life (it's about time). Most members of my family--immediate and extended--live in the Atlanta area, and I am a family guy. I don't have any children or pets of my own, although cureless has brought a pair of cats into my home and I'm rather attached to them. I used to have several plants that I tended fondly, but the cats have killed all but one of them (and they've attempted to destroy that one, too).

The intermediates: I like most music, but I find that I prefer rock and roll, alternative rock, and just about anything with violin in it. I don't like emo very much (although the definition of that genre keeps mutating), I can't stand modern rap, and I'm ambivalent toward hip-hop (there are exceptions). I like to read and write fiction and sci-fi/fantasy, though I suspect that I will always be better at reading than writing. I'm a fan of logic and philosophy, but I'm not always in the mood to read dry text and sometimes I do injustice to authors by skimming. I have a soft spot for role-playing games, though past experiences have turned me off of the kind that take place in bedrooms. I'm clean and usually well-organized, though I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm neat. I like racquetball and white-water rafting, but due to my inherent laziness I'm more likely to just hang out around home. I am diurnal, and I love sunlight even if I don't get out in it as much as I'd like.

The advanceds: I am usually very patient, but I don't tolerate much angst. I like people, but in some ways I am crippled by a few mild prejudices. I don't mean prejudices about appearance or accent (though I probably have a few of those that I'm afraid or ashamed to admit to myself), but prejudices correlating behavior to character. I think people should take as much responsibility for their actions as is logical (you can't take responsibility for the weather, for example, but you should take responsibility for how you prepared for and/or dealt with it). I am immediately distrustful of people who automatically assume that they know more than anybody else (such people include but are not limited to people who assume they know more than everybody else), and I appreciate it when people point out that I'm being an arrogant ass. That doesn't mean I'll stop being an arrogant ass, but I do like to know.
